Operation Walk Maryland celebrating 10 years Anniversary

  • This past January a small team returned to Trinidad to follow up on the patients

Let's hear it for another resounding success! This past October in Trinidad, Operation Walk Maryland was able to complete an astounding 53 joint replacements on 48 patients in just 3.5 short days. With the outstanding support of the Ministry of Health, as well as the local staff from the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, our team worked incredibly hard to complete this impressive feat. Despite the long hours, nothing compared to the feeling of intense pride and sheer joy we felt when we finally got to see our patients taking their first steps towards their new, pain-free lives.

We are a private, not-for-profit, volunteer medical service organization that provides free surgical treatment for patients in developing countries and in the United States. We treat those suffering from disabling arthritis and other debilitating bone and joint conditions. Our mission is to help those who have little to no access to life-improving care. We provide all care including joint replacement implants at no cost. This is possible through the generous donations of our individual and corporate supporters.

In an effort to create a lasting contribution toward the care of patients around the world, Operation Walk Maryland team members also educate orthopedic surgeons and other health care professionals about advanced surgical techniques, disease treatments, and recovery procedures for hip and knee joint conditions.
